Delivery drones are taking off nationwide, with Texas emerging as a key testing ground. Google parent Alphabet is set to launch Wing, a delivery-by-drone service that covers "tens of thousands" of homes in the Dallas-Forth Worth metro area, later this week. Wing follows in the flight paths of a "handful" of startups already making "dozens or hundreds of deliveries each day" in states such as Arkansas, North Carolina and Virginia, according to The Wall Street Journal.
• Interestingly, Amazon, which originated a lot of the buzz about drone deliveries back in 2013, is said to still be working on its tech.
• FedEx is planning to test drone deliveries between sorting facilities next year.
